There are two ways to download a video from the Canvas course:

1. From the Course Media Gallery

  • Click on the video you’d like to download.
  • Click on the “Download” button below the video.
  • Choose the download option you’d like to save to your computer.

2. From an Embedded Video

Anywhere there is a video embedded in the Canvas course, you can click on the download icon in the top right corner of the player and a download will begin.

If neither a download button or the download icon are present for a video, please notify Video Production Services at video@cop.ufl.edu.

Sync MP4

Sync to Android device

  1. Connect your Android device to your computer.
  2. Open the storage folder.
  3. Drag and drop or copy and paste the MP4 file into the “Movies” folder. If you only see the “Pictures” folder, switch your device from Camera (PTP) to Media device (MTP) by swiping downwards from the top and selecting “USB computer connection.”
  4. A warning may pop up about unplayable file types. You can accept this message. The files should play fine.

Sync to Apple device

  1. Connect your Apple device to your computer.
  2. Open the iTunes application.
  3. In iTunes, go to the File menu (press the alt key or ctrl+b if you don’t see it) and choose “Add folder to library.” You can also use “Add file to library” (ctrl+O) for individual selection.
  4. Navigate to the folder storing the MP4 files and add it to the library.
  5. Select your device from within iTunes. The device name should show up in the upper right, near the “iTunes Store” button.
  6. Select the “Movies” category from the device menu bar (beneath the Apple logo at center).
  7. Check-mark “Sync Movies” and “Automatically include all movies.” You can also choose specific ones as well.
  8. Click on the “Sync” button at bottom right. The MP4 files are now on your Apple device.

Sync MP3

Sync to Android device

  1. Connect your Android device to your computer.
  2. Open the storage folder.
  3. Drag and drop or copy and paste the MP3 file into the “Music” folder. If you only see the “Pictures” folder, switch your device from Camera (PTP) to Media device (MTP) by swiping downwards from the top and selecting “USB computer connection.” You can also follow Google’s guide if you have any problem.
  4. A warning may pop up about unplayable file types. You can accept this message. The files should play fine.

Sync to Apple device

  1. Connect your Apple device to your computer.
  2. Open the iTunes application.
  3. In iTunes, go to the File menu (press the alt key or ctrl+b if you don’t see it) and choose “Add folder to library.” You can also use “Add file to library” (ctrl+O) for individual selection.
  4. Navigate to the folder storing the MP3 files and add it to the library.
  5. Select your device from within iTunes. The device name should show up in the upper right, near the “iTunes Store” button.
  6. Select the “Music” category from the device menu bar (beneath the Apple logo at center).
  7. Check-mark “Sync Music” and select “Entire music library”. You can also choose specific ones as well with other options.
  8. Click on the “Sync” button at bottom right. The MP3 files are now on your Apple device.

Play

The MP4 and MP3 files should appear within your device’s video and music player apps respectively. Please enjoy!
